Held together, loosely: Reflections from the field (mini series)

Introduction: The view from here.
This mini-series is a little different from my usual posts.

It’s less about systems thinking concepts or pseudo-philosophical reflections, and more grounded in lived practice – those raw, uncomfortable, unresolved moments that show up when you try to work differently in systems that resist change.

Recently, my studies have drawn me into deeper questions of relationships, participation, and power – not just in theory, but in practice. What happens when you stop trying to control a system, and instead try to relate to it? What does it mean to be in a system you’re also trying to change? How do you hold hope, or presence, when the work feels stuck?

These aren’t clean, polished reflections. They’re field notes – messy, honest, and still unfolding. Each one picks at a different relational tension. Each one has helped me surface something I needed to see. Maybe they’ll do the same for you.
